Choc-Cherry Collagen Smoothie

Choc-Cherry Collagen Smoothie

Why this works

Frozen cherries are one of the highest-anthocyanin fruits — anthocyanins protect existing collagen from oxidative damage. Raw cacao adds a measurable polyphenol load and pairs beautifully with cherry. Together with a teaspoon of Collagen Ultimate+, this is a smoothie that drinks like a treat and works like a tonic.

Ingredients

  • 1 rounded teaspoon Collagen Ultimate+
  • 1 cup frozen cherries (pitted)
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • 200ml coconut, almond or oat milk
  • 1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
  • 1/2 frozen banana (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 3 ice cubes

Method

  1. Add the milk to the blender first.
  2. Add Collagen Ultimate+, cacao and (if using) sweetener.
  3. Add the frozen cherries, banana and desiccated coconut.
  4. Add ice and blend on high for 45–60 seconds until silky.
  5. Pour into a tall glass. Top with extra coconut or a few fresh cherries.

Naturopath’s note

"A favourite of mine for the kids — it tastes like a dessert and delivers a real nutrient profile. The cherries are skin gold; the cacao is a bonus."
