Why this works
Frozen cherries are one of the highest-anthocyanin fruits — anthocyanins protect existing collagen from oxidative damage. Raw cacao adds a measurable polyphenol load and pairs beautifully with cherry. Together with a teaspoon of Collagen Ultimate+, this is a smoothie that drinks like a treat and works like a tonic.
Ingredients
- 1 rounded teaspoon Collagen Ultimate+
- 1 cup frozen cherries (pitted)
- 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
- 200ml coconut, almond or oat milk
- 1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
- 1/2 frozen banana (optional)
- 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 3 ice cubes
Method
- Add the milk to the blender first.
- Add Collagen Ultimate+, cacao and (if using) sweetener.
- Add the frozen cherries, banana and desiccated coconut.
- Add ice and blend on high for 45–60 seconds until silky.
- Pour into a tall glass. Top with extra coconut or a few fresh cherries.
Naturopath’s note
"A favourite of mine for the kids — it tastes like a dessert and delivers a real nutrient profile. The cherries are skin gold; the cacao is a bonus."
