Why this works
Berries are one of the highest antioxidant food groups available, and the anthocyanins they supply protect existing collagen from oxidative damage. Pairing them with a teaspoon of Collagen Ultimate+ provides the substrate (marine peptides), the cofactor (vitamin C from Kakadu Plum and Camu Camu in the blend) and the protective antioxidants in a single 5-minute drink.
Ingredients
- 1 rounded teaspoon (5g) Intrametica Collagen Ultimate+
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries)
- 1/2 frozen banana (optional, for body and sweetness)
- 200ml almond milk (or oat milk, coconut milk, dairy-free milk of choice)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup (optional)
- A handful of baby spinach (optional, increases the nutrient density without affecting flavour)
- 3–4 ice cubes
Method
- Add the almond milk to a high-speed blender first — this prevents the powder from sticking to the bottom.
- Add the Collagen Ultimate+, chia seeds and (if using) sweetener and spinach.
- Add the frozen berries, banana and ice.
- Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until silky smooth. Stop and scrape down once if needed.
- Pour into a tall glass. Top with a few fresh berries if you’re feeling generous with the photo.
Naturopath’s note (Angela)
"This is the smoothie I make most often through summer. The berries deliver the antioxidant load; the Collagen Ultimate+ delivers the peptides and cofactors. If your skin has been looking dull, this is one of the easiest one-glass interventions you can repeat daily for two weeks and see a difference."
